Manchester City have been without Norway sensation Erling Haaland for the last four Premier League matches, but he could be fit to play against Newcastle on Saturday (5.30pm). Pep Guardiola must check on four other players before the match at St James’ Park.

After a stress-related foot injury, Haaland is on the mend and back in training. The 23-year-old has not played for the treble champions since a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on December 6.
As a result, the former Borussia Dortmund striker did not play for City during their victorious Club World Cup run late last month, but he did accompany his colleagues to Saudi Arabia. Guardiola is likely to provide an update on him during the game.

Kalvin Phillips, who is rumoured to be on Newcastle’s radar this month, and Bernardo Silva were both missing for City’s thumping FA Cup win against Huddersfield, as the club strolled into the fourth round without them. Both players were sick during the 5-0 win at Etihad Stadium.
England defender John Stones will almost certainly miss the game against Newcastle due to an ankle injury. The centre-back turned hybrid midfielder was forced off in the Everton game between Christmas and New Year’s, and his return date is unknown.
City’s other known doubt at this point is Manuel Akanji. Guardiola welcomed back Belgium captain Kevin De Bruyne (hamstring) after a five-month absence, as well as compatriot Jeremy Toljan.
