The Miami Dolphins suffered a disappointing loss to the Houston Texans, falling 20-12. Despite a strong effort from the team, four turnovers proved to be too much to overcome.

Head coach Mike McDaniel emphasized the importance of accountability after the game. “When the game starts, I have a lot of people counting on me to make sound decisions,” he said. “It’s not hard for me to recognize how many people are counting on me to do my job.”

McDaniel also praised his team’s effort and resilience. “My message to the team was to not run from how this feels,” he said. “It was a game that we thought we were ready to go win… we had a team that fought tooth and nail until the very end.”

The Dolphins’ offense struggled to find consistency, with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa throwing four interceptions. “We have to have total connectivity from the whole unit, which wasn’t good enough,” McDaniel said.

Tagovailoa’s performance was a major factor in the loss. Despite completing 29 of 40 passes, his turnovers proved costly. “You’re not going to win games with four turnovers,” McDaniel said. “That was very, very disappointing.”

The game-sealing interception was particularly frustrating, as it came on a play where Tagovailoa and his receiver were not on the same page. “Tyreek won at the line of scrimmage on that last pick, and we didn’t connect the way it usually goes down,” McDaniel said.

Despite the loss, there were some bright spots for the Dolphins. Running back De’Von Achane had 19 touches for 76 yards, and wide receiver Malik Washington had five catches for 52 yards.

Tight end Jonnu Smith also had a strong game, catching nine passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. Defensive end Chop Robinson had two sacks, providing a boost to the Dolphins’ pass rush.

The loss drops the Dolphins to 6-8 on the season, making their playoff hopes increasingly slim. Despite this, McDaniel remains committed to his team’s process and is focused on finishing the season strong.

McDaniel also emphasized the need for his team to learn from its mistakes and move forward. “There were some good snaps from the protection standpoint, and a lot of snaps where guys were trying to be too perfect,” he said.
