Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith recently expressed his disappointment after being overlooked for the Pro Bowl selection. Smith had been hopeful of making the cut, given his impressive performance this season.

The Dolphins tight end acknowledged that he had been looking forward to the possibility of being selected. Smith noted,

“I thought I would do [make the Pro Bowl]. It’s my first time ever being recognized for a respectable honor, you know what I mean? Congratulations to all the guys that made it. You know, they’re deserving.”

Smith’s disappointment was palpable, particularly given that no Miami player made the Pro Bowl roster. When asked about this, Smith agreed that it was surprising, but emphasized that the team’s focus remains on winning championships.

The Dolphins are currently vying for a playoff spot, and Smith recognizes the importance of staying focused. He and his team will need to secure a win against the Jets, while also relying on other teams’ results to go in their favor.

Smith’s stats this season have been impressive, but ultimately, the Pro Bowl selection favored other tight ends. The Raiders’ Brock Bowers and the Chiefs’ Travis Kelce were selected ahead of Smith.

Despite the disappointment, Smith remains gracious and focused on the bigger picture. He reflected, “I definitely felt that was kind of a slap in the face [that not a single Dolphins player made the team], for a lot of guys… who were deserving, for sure. At the end of the day, we play this game to win championships. Pro Bowls, that’s actually that comes with it. At the end of the day, we’ll laugh about it for few minutes but we got work to do this weekend.”

The Dolphins will need to channel their energy into securing a playoff spot. With Smith’s determination and the team’s motivation, they may still prove themselves and make a deep run in the playoffs.
