Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari has backed Malmo boss Henrik Rydström after being linked with the role at Albion.
The Seagulls are still searching for a successor to Roberto De Zerbi, having parted company with the Italian last month.
Former boss Graham Potter remains the favourite with the bookmakers, with ex-Nottingham Forest and England youth coach Steve Cooper also in the running.
Rydström is also a leading contender with the Swede currently the third favourite at 7/1 with Sky Bet.
Albion’s Swedish midfielder Ayari – who joined Brighton for around £3m from AIK in 2023 and spent last season on loan at Coventry and Blackburn – feels Rydström is a ‘great manager.’
“Honestly?! Is it just a rumour? How sick! He is a great coach who likes to play good football,” said the 20-year-old to @Aftonbladet. “The rumour can’t be completely stupid, because Brighton look at data and stats. He has very good statistics in Allsvenskan.”

His versatility in midfield and the ability to play in various positions would provide Gers with much-needed squad depth and flexibility.
Alzate’s experience in the Premier League and on loan in Belgium demonstrates his ability to adapt to different styles of play and perform at a high level.
