Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a teammate at Napoli, has been the target of a heated, profanity-filled tirade from Victor Osimhen, who alleges that Kvaratskhelia is relocating to Saudi Arabia.
After a stellar few seasons in Serie A, the Nigerian striker has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe. Saudi clubs have been trying to sign Osimhen, who has been linked to a move to Chelsea.
Mamuka Jugeli, Kvaratskhelia’s agent, reportedly asserted that the Napoli star is already planning a move to the Gulf state. “Osimhen signed a new contract, but do you really think he will play for Napoli for the rest of his career?” he asked. He’s going to Saudi Arabia in the summer, I can already tell you that. Napoli increased his pay.
Osimhen has not been overly amused by the accusations. The 25-year-old responded with an angry tirade on Instagram.
He wrote: “Dear Mamuka Jugeli, you are a piece of filth and a disgrace. I’m embarrassed at your sense of reasoning. Dumbf***! KEEP MY NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH!!!”
Osimhen has made comments in the past few months about maybe relocating to Saudi Arabia. He recently disclosed the reasons behind his decision to remain with Napoli and said that talks had been made about making a big-money trade.
He stated, “Of course,” on the Obi One Podcast. “What was stated was accurate; I had discussions. That August week was a big one for me to make, but I entrusted it to God.
It was just mind-boggling to witness these things, and the more I refused to give in to these individuals [in Saudi Arabia], the more they exacerbated it and amplified it.
“I spoke with the responsible parties and my club, and together we explored our options. We came to a decision, and I informed them that I liked them and didn’t believe I wanted to leave just yet. They know my perspective, yet they persisted until their own transfer window [closed].
Before the season even began, I told them, ‘It’s done.’ I really didn’t want to think back, because obviously this was a big decision that would impact my life, but I also wanted to make the best choice for my profession. Even though we play football for cash, there are other benefits as well.”
The 25-year-old Osimhen still has two and a half years left on his Napoli contract. In 18 appearances across all competitions, he has still managed to score eight goals despite the Italian club’s wobbly championship defence.
