Up-and-coming heavyweight challenger Frazer Clarke anticipates that two-time world champion Anthony Joshua will defeat MMA veteran Francis Ngannou decisively.
Joshua and Ngannou have agreed to meet on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After an unexpectedly strong performance against WBC champion Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia in October, Ngannou moved up to the heavyweight division.
Ngannou surprised onlookers by stopping Fury in the third round of their ten-round fight, and the two continued to battle on equal terms until the final bell. Many had predicted that the bout would end in a mismatch. With a close split decision victory, Fury prevailed.
Olympic bronze medallist Clarke has regularly sparred with Joshua.
“We’ve already had a look at that one [Ngannou], which is a good thing,” Clarke said to Sky Sports.
“Fury was similar to the tester before. He had to enter the room even though neither he nor we were really certain of what he would find there. Josh can definitely beat him, in my opinion. If winning the world title is your goal, you should definitely have a more competitive name on your résumé in order to get to that level.”
“You were at the top, you took a little dip, and now all you had to do was battle Otto Wallin to close the distance. To prepare for the global titles, you could need to close the gap once more and advance to the next level. Is that what Ngannou is, or not? claiming to have performed well against Fury, but what does it really matter? I detest talking to people about this because it’s not what they want to hear, but in boxing, pound notes are a big deal, and I believe that will speak for itself in the end.”
