Arsenal’s striker troubles are costing them £100 million, yet Chelsea received a £20 million transfer discount for Ivan Toney.

Before making his eagerly anticipated comeback from suspension, Ivan Toney's position at Brentford is becoming more and more questionable.

Arsenal has been advised that in order to maintain their hopes of winning the Premier League, they need to buy Ivan Toney this month. The 27-year-old striker, who was given an eight-month ban for breaking Football Association betting regulations in the summer, has been strongly linked to leaving Brentford for some time.

Despite not having played a single Premier League minute since May, Toney is still one of Europe’s most sought-after frontmen. When the Bees meet Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on January 20, the England international will be able to play in all games again.

There will be around two weeks remaining in the January transfer window by that time. With just 18 months left on his deal at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford may be forced to accept a lowball offer if Toney is not let go this month.

Thomas Frank’s team has apparently placed an eye-watering £100 million price tag on the striker in the interim, and Arsenal has been advised to cough up if they want to revive their title aspirations. Five points behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League, the Gunners are presently in fourth place.

Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio stated, “I think that to Arsenal he’s worth £100 million.” “I think Arsenal would have likely won that game if he had been there when they played us [West Ham].”

“I don’t think Chelsea is in as much need of a bagsman as Arsenal is, but they still need one. It would likely be worth more than £80 million to Chelsea. since Ivan Toney is an amazing person. He is excellent.

“But to Arsenal they need to spend £100million to try and win the title, Chelsea aren’t winning the title this year so I don’t feel that £100million on a striker is really relevant for them to be spending.”

Mikel Arteta has downplayed Arsenal’s chances of signing a striker this month, despite pleas from supporters to add a fresh player to the lineup. After the Gunners’ heartbreaking FA Cup loss to Liverpool on Monday night, the Spaniard remarked, “It does not look realistic right now.”

“My responsibility is to help our players become better, and we must work to maximise the performance of the players we already have. I implore the fans to show their support for the squad as they have done in trying times.

“Remain devoted to the ones we already have. They are really, very talented. They wouldn’t act as they have in Anfield and today if they didn’t. Adhere to them.

“They require precisely that. They then experience significance and support. They don’t deserve anything different given their attitude. That is my belief.

In their last three games, Arsenal has had sixty-one shots, yet they have only managed one goal. Given that the North Londoners are having trouble and don’t appear to be getting better in January, Arteta has thrown open the red carpet for Chelsea to sign Toney.
