The way Jurgen Klopp maximises the potential of his Liverpool team never ceases to astound. Despite dealing with several injury issues in recent weeks, the Reds manager nevertheless selected a team to defeat rivals Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday.

But with the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League all up for grabs, and the January transfer window offering the Reds an opportunity to make significant roster changes, it only makes sense to see them strongly linked with players across the board.

The Liverpool ECHO also examines the transfer rumours that have been circulating about Liverpool this morning, beginning with Kylian Mbappe, a man that most people have probably heard of.

Although Klopp and the team have previously expressed admiration for Mbappe, they have frequently refrained from making a move for the forward due to the player’s high price tag. However, the transfer talk continues. It’s quite exciting news that Mbappe might be available for a transfer; players of his calibre don’t usually go up for practically nothing.

The Times reported that Paris Saint-Germain is ‘confident’ that they will not lose the 25-year-old to Liverpool, but they are also reportedly unwilling to sell him to Real Madrid. The report suggests that, even though Liverpool may need a replacement for Mohamed Salah in the near future and that Mbappe is open to moving to England, PSG at this point aren’t concerned about potential suitors.

In addition to their on-field struggles, Chelsea is truly unable to finance him due to their own wastefulness. in the market for transfers. Arsenal too faces difficulties with FFP. Really, who else is there? Mbappe and Liverpool are one of the English teams that just seem to make sense. even if the Reds’ statistics don’t support it.

Whatever PSG say about determining Mbappe’s next move, Liverpool will always be discussed. It’s been evident for a while now that Mbappe holds the power in this relationship. Should he express a wish to relocate to Anfield, it would put FSG’s aspirations to the test and have an effect on Mohamed Salah’s future.

Due to Klopp’s lack of players, Liverpool is still being connected to defensive acquisitions.

With Virgil van Dijk out of the Arsenal game owing to illness, the Reds are quickly running out of options in defence. Even if the Dutchman does make a comeback to play against Fulham, Klopp doesn’t have much leeway at the moment due to Joel Matip’s chronic injury, Kostas Tsimikas’s injury, and Andy Robertson’s current absence.

Reports, though, indicate that Liverpool is looking to expand its defensive alternatives. The Daily Mail claims that the team is focusing all of its attention on Portugal in an attempt to address its flaws.

Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande, Benfica’s Antonio Silva, and Wolfsburg, Germany’s Maxence Lacroix are included on a supposedly four-man defensive shortlist. Most of the quartet are quite young and very fast. However, they won’t all be inexpensive.

Liverpool states: The Reds have already begun to plan for defensive additions, and while it’s possible that they may move forward with those preparations if the right opportunity arises, we’ve seen in the past with players like Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo.

Nonetheless, Liverpool would do well to acquire any of the four names mentioned, both immediately and in the long run. While Silva is possibly the most promising—and hence the most expensive—Diomande is arguably the most adaptable and can play a role across the defence most akin to that of Joe Gomez.
