The former Borussia Dortmund striker scored 52 goals in 53 games in his debut season at the Etihad, helping City win the Champions League for the first time and complete a historic treble.

The only problem for City is that there is already a lot of conjecture about when the Norwegian superstar may decide to take on a new challenge.

And comments made by the striker’s father, former City midfielder Alf-Inge, back in 2022 have further fueled speculation that Haaland will not be a long-term fixture at the Etihad. Speaking on the documentary ‘Haaland: The Big Decision’,

Haaland senior suggested that his son would stay with the Premier League champions for “three or four years at most” despite reports linking him with a dream move to Real Madrid.
Haaland Sr stated: “I believe Erling wants to demonstrate his ability in all leagues. Then he can stay at Manchester City for a maximum of three or four years. He could spend two and a half years in Germany, two and a half years in England, and then in Spain, Italy, and France, correct?”

However, the City manager intimated this week that he was unsure whether he would remain at the club beyond next year, just days after teasing a new contract Last year, it was revealed that a £150 million release clause in the striker’s deal, which was set to begin next summer, was cancelled since it was related to Pep Guardiola’s future, who signed a contract extension until 2025 shortly after Haaland arrived.
