Stuttering league results, plodding, lukewarm play, Kyogo Furuhashi’s obvious dip in form, and the perplexing summer transfer market have left many Celtic fans bewildered about what is going on at the club right now.
Today is transfer deadline day, thus the most of the news will be on Celtic’s chase of incomings and efforts to get marginal players off the books.
And, as the news of Celtic’s potential interest in PSG fullback Layvin Kurzawa spreads, Talksport’s Alan Brazil has shared rumours from Parkhead about Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers.
Brazil told Talksport, “I hope it’s not true, but there are one or two rumours coming out of Parkhead, Celtic, that Brendan is not thrilled with a couple of things.
“This is merely rumours, but the surface is not up to par; I want more players; I need money for players, and they are not being provided.
“So by all accounts he’s very angry about it.”
Brendan Rodgers’ return to Celtic has been questioned previously.
The Celtic manager’s return to Parkhead last summer raised more than a few eyebrows.
After the way he left Celtic to join Leicester, Rodgers faced an uphill struggle to persuade all of the Hoops fans that he was the ideal man for the position.
Hugh MacDonald, a journalist, questioned Rodgers’ return in September, claiming that alternative employment offers were available that the Hoops coach may have taken.
I have not even discussed the lack of transfer activity. Many Celtic fans have been disappointed with the January transfer window.
Rodgers has spoken for months about adding quality to his squad, yet on the final day of the window, he has officially recruited only one player.
If the reports are accurate that he is being denied the funds to sign the players he wants, Celtic fans will be furious that the club’s progress is being hampered, especially as they have wads of cash at their disposal.
