A new photo of Israel Adesanya in training has emerged online, and it’s safe to say he is looking incredibly jacked ahead of a potential jump up to the light heavyweight division of the UFC.
In September of last year, “Izzy” was defeated by Sean Strickland in their most recent battle, which lasted the entire five rounds and was decided by unanimous vote for the winner. In addition, Strickland won Performance of the Night for his efforts against the Kiwi who was born in Nigeria.
After that battle, Adesanya said on “The Rock” radio show in New Zealand that he doesn’t intend to compete for a while. However, in December, he somewhat backtracked, saying that UFC fans would “see him soon.”
Adesanya Israel will advance in weight class
He might decide to go up to the light heavyweight class in his upcoming match. Alex Pereira, who had previously faced him twice, moved up to the light heavyweight class in April 2023. He has since defeated Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291 and Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295. He became the division champion after that win.
Some people think that UFC 300, which takes place in April 2024, would feature this fight as one of the main events at the historic occasion. This would be their third UFC matchup, and because they have split their victories thus far, it seems fitting to conclude the trilogy with a bout. They had previously faced off twice, at Glory of Heroes 1 in 2016 and Glory of Heroes 7 in 2017, respectively, with the Brazilian coming out on top both times before they joined Dana White’s entourage.
Adesanya did concede that if Pereira won the light heavyweight title in the UFC, he would be interested in facing him a third time.
Israel Adesanya versus Pereira Alex
He declared prior to the altercation: “I don’t think it happens, if I were to place a bet. 205 is difficult; I’ve been there. However, if he wins the 205 belt, they might offer him a fast track, just as they did for me. If that happens, me and him will engage in an incredible, bizarre, and f******ing bout at 205. For the fifth time, that will be us.
Pereira confronted Adesanya during his post-fight interview at UFC 295, following his victory over the lightweight champion. “I’m not the type of guy to call people out, but there’s a guy that back in the day did some interviews and said I was a guy who was just going to stay in the pub,” Pereira stated. That inspired me. I’m here today because he saved me from a pub.
“This guy stated that all he wants to do is return in 2027 and fight. He seems like a really gifted man to me. I want to come here and fight to save him too, since it’s a waste of ability. I am aware that I will not subject myself to the same treatment he did to me, forcing me to engage in three middleweight fights with him. We had a lot of past together, therefore I know it’s a male. This fight is something I want to happen. Please come to Daddy, Adesanya”.
At UFC 300, fans would be thrilled to see a trilogy of UFC bouts: Adesanya vs. Pereira III, Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate III, and Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor III?
