Just In: Tottenham star player drops heartfelt message to fans and team mates

Lucas Moura has been speaking about his heroics in the Champions League semifinal back in 2019, with the winger admitting that the day was one of the most special ones of his life.

Although the 2019 Champions League campaign eventually ended in disappointment, with Spurs being beaten by Liverpool in the final, the semifinal win over Ajax will live long in the memories of Tottenham fans and it remains one of the greatest comebacks in the competition’s history.

The Lilywhites found themselves 2-0 down in the tie and 3-0 down on aggregate at the half-time interval in the second leg in Amsterdam, with the Eredivisie side seemingly having one foot in the final.

However, Tottenham delivered a sensational comeback, with half-time substitute Moura scoring a second-half hattrick to send Spurs to the final in Madrid.

Lucas Moura reflects on that night in Amsterdam

Moura, who departed Spurs at the end of last season to return to Sao Paulo, admitted that the moments after his stoppage-time goals were quite surreal.

The 31-year-old told ESPN Brasil: “We started the second half pressing Ajax more, with a different attitude. Five minutes into the second half, I scored the first goal. After another five minutes, I scored the second. Then I thought: ‘We’ve done the hardest thing, which was equalise. We’ve got another 30 minutes to score just one more goal.’
