Jon Jones is still on X (previously Twitter) chatting with his admirers.

The UFC heavyweight champion, former light heavyweight champion, and top G.O.A.T. contender took to social media last night (Thursday, January 19th) to promote an appearance in New Jersey and celebrate reaching 3 million followers.

He admitted to being “an a—hole, young, and immature” in response to disputed 2014 messages from UFC executives branding him a ‘punk’ and a ‘douche. He stated that everything is going well with the promotion right now. He even disclosed that the UFC had approached him about fighting at UFC 300.

This morning, he logged back in and is responding to more Jones-related news.

“Khamzat Chimaev, stop it, don’t let people ask you those questions,” he wrote in one tweet.

Chimaev recently stated that his dream bout would be a brawl with “Bones.” Khamzat claimed to have trained with Alexander Gustafsson, who gave Jones a tough battle in 2013. So he believes he has a shot against Jones.

“No time for the bullshit,” Jones tweeted. “I mind my own business…” When you’re injured, anything is flattering.”

The heavyweight champion then responded to detractors in the comments who accused him of avoiding interim champion Tom Aspinall (which is understandable) and… Stipe Miocic?
“Let me heal and give me some jelly ranchers,” Jones wrote. “I miss these questions. This is what happens when you have great hopes, even after injury. Nothing’s ever good enough.”

The worst-kept secret in MMA is that Jones intends to retire after defeating Stipe Miocic and earning heavyweight credentials that he feels would end the G.O.A.T. argument. In that sense, Aspinall’s pressure could be effective: if enough people feel Jon’s reputation will be soiled if he does not unify the titles, he may stay around and take out one last generation of fighters.

Unfortunately for those who would like to see that, Jones appears unconcerned by the day-to-day s— chatter around the sport.
“What I refuse to do is be like a lot of these other fighters who stuck around too long,” he said on January 9th. “That won’t happen. Despite what many people believe, your boy Bones Jones is over here like to think.

I’ve got a very good start in life. I want Stipe for my resume; otherwise, I don’t need anything more from this sport.

“I arrived, witnessed, and conquered. Facts.”
