Hawk Tyler Brockman has decided he wants to head home to WA

HAWTHORN forward Tyler Brockman will seek a trade back to Western Australia after three years with the Hawks.

It is believed Brockman, who has come to the end of his contract with the club and had been weighing a move to WA for family reasons, has requested a trade to his home state.

The Hawks have done as much as possible to keep Brockman and help him settle into Melbourne life, with the talented goalkicker playing 15 games and booting 13 goals this season, but the 20-year-old has decided to head home with his twin children and partner.

He has not nominated a preferred club although West Coast has been viewed as the frontrunner for him, however, Fremantle will also be interested in Brockman. There has been an expectation for some time that a trade request was looking likely from Brockman.

The Western Bulldogs and Fremantle have both made signings on the first day of the pre-season supplemental selection period.

With pre-season activities officially underway for the teams that missed the 2023 finals, the pair of 2022 finalists have landed players axed by rival clubs in recent months.

The Bulldogs signed ex-Hawthorn utility Lachie Bramble, who played 30 games since his mid-2021 debut at Waverley Park, including 11 this past season.

“Lachie brings some exciting athletic traits to our program and plays a variety of positions across the midfield and defence,” Bulldogs GM of list and recruiting Sam Power said.

“He has played 30 AFL games throughout his three seasons at Hawthorn and will provide plenty of speed and dash to our squad.

“We look forward to welcoming Lachie and his family to VU Whitten Oval this week.”

Meanwhile having previously chased him in the 2022 trade period, a move that fell through on deadline day, the Dockers have finally signed ex-Suns wingman Jeremy Sharp.

The club announced Sebit Kuek (knee and shoulder surgery) and Josh Corbett (hip surgery) will be placed on the long-term injury list allowing the East Fremantle product to sign on.

“We liked him in his draft year (2019). He was a two-time All Australian in the U18s which doesn’t happen very often,” Fremantle head of player personnel David Walls said of Sharp.

“We tracked him pretty closely and he’s now spent four years in the system.”

Sharp joined Gold Coast with pick 27 in the 2019 national draft and played 23 games across four seasons, also playing in the 2023 VFL premiership.

He is a leading contender to replace the departed Liam Henry on a wing for Justin Longmuir’s side.
