Sad News For Jeffco: Jefferson County Is In A Big Trouble

When heavy snow is forecasted, it’s important to know who is plowing your community. Fortunately, there is information available from agencies in charge of Jefferson County’s roadways.

The City of Lakewood has a plan in place for snow and ice events

Lakewood’s Snow and Ice Control webpage offers all the information needed for snow and ice removal. According to the city’s snow and ice plan, Lakewood’s snow removal is prioritized into three levels:

Many of the streets in Lakewood are major arteries but are not the responsibility of the city. These are areas controlled by the Colorado Department of Transportation. According to CDOT, these roads include:

These roadways are maintained by CDOT and will be plowed according to the agency’s snow removal plan.

What about Wheat Ridge?

Wheat Ridge also has a snow and ice control plan for removing heavy snow in the city. Like Lakewood, Wheat Ridge’s snow removal is done in stages with three priority levels.

Wheat Ridge residents can track the plows on the “Snow Plow Tracking Map” on the city of Wheat Ridge website.

Jefferson County

Jeffco recently revised its snow procedures for the 2023-2024 season due to a shortage in truck drivers across the state. The county has four levels of priority, phases for these levels and special procedures for the different landscapes in Jeffco. Here’s a breakdown of the county’s snow removal policy:
