Sad News: St. John’s Are Left With No Other Choice Than To………

The St. John’s baseball team (28-11-1, 8-4) will welcome BIG EAST foe Creighton (31-11, 4-7) to Jack Kaiser Stadium for a three-game series beginning on Friday, after its 17th home win and matching its 28 victories from a year ago with a win over Iona on Wednesday.

Due to the adverse weather anticipated for this weekend, the Red Storm and Bluejays have rescheduled Friday’s game time from 6 p.m. to 3 p.m. The final two games are set to begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday, as scheduled. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+, with live stats accessible on RedStormSports.com.

The first 350 fans in attendance at Friday’s game will receive a free pair of sunglasses from RedZone. Former St. John’s baseball players are also invited return to campus on Saturday to attend Alumni Day at The Jack, which starts at 1 p.m.

The Red Storm enters Friday’s matchup on a three-game winning streak, having defeated Iona 5-4 on Wednesday evening. Luke Orbon blasted his 100th career home run in the fifth inning, giving him three RBIs on the day.

This season, the Red Storm has won four games against teams with an RPI of 50 or above, including a win over No. 2 Florida (18), two triumphs over Xavier (34) and one over UConn (44). St. John’s begins the matchup at No. 59 in RPI, while Creighton is ranked No. 49 as of Thursday.

St. John’s will try to snap a seven-game losing streak against the Bluejays, looking for its first win since May 1, 2021, when the Johnnies won 4-1. The Red Storm will also be looking for their first home win and series victory over Creighton since April 13-15, 2018, when the Johnnies swept the Bluejays. St. John’s and Creighton will meet on Friday for the 13th time.

Creighton presently leads the league with 31 wins this season, despite a 4-7 conference record. The Bluejays are also 12-5 away from Charles Schwab Field Omaha, which hosts the College World Series.

Nolan Sailors leads Creighton and is second in the BIG EAST with a.391 batting average (41st in NCAA), 63 hits, and 52 RBIs. In 42 appearances this season, the junior outfielder has scored 48 runs (1st in BE) and 14 doubles, a team high.
