Arsenal transfer news: second transaction of the summer completed, although it doesn't help Mikel Arteta yet.

Mika Biereth, an Arsenal prospect, has been recalled from his loan at Motherwell despite an impressive first half of the season. It continues a trend for the Gunners this season, with minimal first-team activity in January.

Mikel Arteta has already seen Brazilian attacker Marquinhos return to the club after failing to impress at Nantes in Ligue 1. It is his second temporary move in a succession, having already struggled at Norwich after January of last year.
The manager is unhappy in the market, however, because his team, like the rest of the Premier League, faces the danger of severe penalties if financial rules are ignored. Following both Everton and Nottingham Forest were charged with a second series of wrongdoings, teams have become increasingly cautious with their spending.

It comes at a difficult moment for Arteta, as Arsenal is seeking to recover from a mini-slump in which they have won only one of their last seven games. However, new recruits are unlikely to bring about this revolution in football.London realises that there is a very serious probability that no incomings will arrive before the February 1 deadline.
The group is still active, and it appears that they have found a means to help Biereth advance. He has been a standout performer in a weak side, scoring six goals and providing five assists in just 14 Scottish League games, which is even more impressive given that he has only made 11 starts.

Motherwell are ninth (out of 12), having won only one of their last 17 games. Biereth’s return has surprised manager Stuart Kettlewell, but it could be part of a bigger plan at Arsenal. “It’s a major, major disappointment,” the manager stated of the 20-year-old forward. “This was a little unexpected.

“They believe there’s an opportunity to send him to another club that takes him that step beyond where we are just now.” According to The Star, Biereth is expected to join Championship club Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Rohl’s Owls have already signed custodian James Beadle from Brighton and former Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo from Troyes. Both players have been signed on loan as Rohl attempts to avoid relegation, with Wednesday presently third from bottom.

Not only is the loan system in effect here, but a unique mechanism has been implemented, which explains Biereth’s termination of his stay above the border. Ugbo and Beadle were already on loan somewhere before this window – Cardiff and Oxford, respectively – but were persuaded to abandon those commitments in favour of a new challenge.

He signed a professional contract in 2021 and has been a consistent standout for Hale End’s younger teams, scoring 12 goals and assisting five times in 26 appearances. Although he is yet to make his Arsenal debut, he was named to the bench for a 0-0 draw with Burnley during the 2021/22 season and was also included in the squad for cup games against Nottingham Forest and Liverpool. His next test, assuming it is at Hillsborough, appears to be the most difficult of his career thus far.
