Red Bull’s Head of Performance, Dan Lorang, is confident that Primoz Roglic can compete with the younger stars in the peloton, including Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel, despite being significantly older.

Roglic, who recently turned 35, is eight years older than Jonas Vingegaard and eleven years older than Evenepoel, but Lorang believes age is just a number. “Primoz can still be there with Pogacar and Evenepoel,” he said. “If we get his build-up and preparation right, why can’t he?”

Lorang points out that Roglic’s numbers are as good as ever, and he’s even improving. “We see Primoz’s numbers are as good as ever, improving even,” he said. “His age doesn’t really mean anything. He’s eight, ten years older than Pogacar and those guys, but as a cyclist, he’s the same.”

Despite being the oldest of the “big four”, Roglic is still competing at the highest level. Lorang believes this is because Roglic hasn’t reached his ceiling yet. “It’s about how much space there still is for development,” he said. “Because Primoz is so ‘young’ in cycling, he’s not reached his ceiling. There’s still room for him to develop.”

Lorang is confident that Roglic can still improve and compete with the best. “We believe he can still even get better,” he said. “We see that in his numbers, and that keeps us confident about the future.” With Roglic’s experience and talent, he’s sure to be a force to be reckoned with in 2025.
