Tiger Woods, a 15-time major winner, has announced that he will not compete in the upcoming Hero World Challenge tournament in the Bahamas.
The tournament, set for December 5-8 at Albany Golf Course, will miss the presence of Woods, who has hosted the event but has played in it only once in the last three years due to health concerns.
Woods underwent his sixth back operation in September to ease back spasms and pain he felt during his 2024 starts, including the British Open in July.
Despite his absence from the tournament, Woods expressed his excitement to be the tournament host and spend the week with @HeroMotoCorp.
Justin Thomas, Nick Dunlap, and Jason Day are the final competitors in the 20-player event.
Scottie Scheffler, the top-ranked player, is the defending champion of the Hero World Challenge.
Nick Dunlap, a 20-year-old golfer, will be making his first appearance in the event.
Dunlap has already made a name for himself in the golf world by becoming the first amateur in 33 years to win a PGA Tour event and the first PGA player to win as a pro and an amateur in the same season.
