PERTH, Australia — Mischievous ATP World No.1 Novak Djokovic couldn’t resist a playful moment. The Serbian star casually passed by the interview room at the United Cup and, upon hearing the familiar sounds of Mandarin Chinese from the speakers, decided to join in.

In a display characteristic of his illustrious 20-year career, Novak Djokovic decided to showcase his language skills during the United Cup. While China’s Zheng Qinwen and Zhang Zhizhen celebrated their victorious debut, Djokovic entered the room and greeted everyone with a spirited “Hello! Thank you all!” in Mandarin.

The room lit up with excitement, especially for Zheng Qinwen, who, as the World No.15, couldn’t contain her delight. She waved back, exclaiming, “Idol!” as Djokovic exited. Once the 10-time Australian Open champion was out of earshot, Zheng turned to the microphone with a playful plea.

“Please don’t go; I still haven’t got your signature yet,” she said, followed by a burst of laughter.
