Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will not play in Al-Nassr’s friendly against Inter Miami because the Portuguese striker is recovering from a calf ailment.
Ronaldo’s ailment forced his Saudi Arabian club to cancel two friendly in China last week.
And he will be side-lined when Inter Miami plays his team on Thursday, according to Al-Nassr manager Luis Castro.
‘Ronaldo is in the final stages of his recovery and will join the group,’ he informed reporters. We anticipate you will be able to begin working with the team within the following few days. He will be absent from the game.
Messi and Ronaldo met a year ago in Saudi Arabia, when PSG faced a Riyadh All-Star XI, but Miami’s visit this week may have been the last time the stars, 36 and 38, faced off.
The Herons’ encounter against Al-Nassr will be their second preseason test in Saudi Arabia, after losing 4-3 to Al-Hilal on Monday.
Ronaldo talked last week about Al-Nassr’s decision to cancel its China fixtures, suggesting that the team would return to the nation later.
‘As you know, I’ve played football for 22 years and haven’t had too many injuries. So I’m really unhappy, since Al Nassr and I came to China to enjoy the tour,” he told reporters.
‘So, as you can see, I am sad. I know you’re sad, as are the others who love Cristiano. However, we must view this positively.
“When I say in a positive way, I mean, We [did not] cancel the game. We are going to postpone the game. We want to be back in your country. We’ll be back.
