Will Karim Benzema join Arsenal or Chelsea?

Newcastle desperately need a midfielder, especially with Joelinton’s poor prognosis for his muscle injury. They’re looking for Kalvin Phillips, the name that appears the most in this window, with the exception of Ivan Toney. Phillips is coveted by a number of clubs, including Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, despite having little realistic prospect of appearing for Manchester City. There’s also Juventus, and a loan to West Ham or Crystal Palace would keep him in Gareth Southgate’s sights. The asking price is for a £7 million loan fee.

Even if the Serie A club refuses to trade, Newcastle has another option in Ederson at Atalanta. How about Conor Gallagher on the market while Chelsea addresses their own profit and environmental concerns? Another way to accomplish this is to sell Armando Broja for roughly £50 million, which is too expensive for those interested, including West Ham, Fulham, and the Wolves. Broja, like Gallagher, was a youth team hewn, therefore he counts as pure FFP profit for the Bridge money guys. Manchester United paid £64 million for Rasmus Højlund, a goal-shy striker, which contributed to the expensive price.

Levi Colwill is another pure profit sell, and Liverpool may be interested in acquiring him to address their defensive injury issues. Fulham is interested in loaning Trevoh Chalobah, which appears to be a more likely exit. Arsenal is rumoured to be interested in purchasing Bruno Guimarães, a controversial move on Tyneside. As Mikel Arteta looks to freshen his squad, so does PSG’s Xavi Simons.

Those moves appear more plausible in the summer, but what about this one? Karim Benzema, like Jordan Henderson, is said to be dissatisfied with his life in the Saudi Pro League and may leave in January.

Will he, like Hendo, defer his earnings thus far and join the Arsenal revolution? That sounds extremely amazing. Chelsea are also interested in what would be the Premier League’s wildcard entry this month. Is that a better deal than £80 million for Ivan Toney now that he has expressed an interest in joining a large club?

Meanwhile, both Tottenham and Arsenal are interested in signing Real Sociedad winger Ander Barrenetxea, who for the Gunners is an either/or option for Simons, who is now on loan at RB Leipzig and is a highly skilled player who can play on the wings or as an offensive midfielder.

Let’s finish with a player who isn’t going anywhere. Instead of going on another loan, Amad Diallo will be able to stay and battle for his spot at Manchester United.
